Just playing around!

We didn't get much accomplished today. But we sure did some playing...

You want me to cook?

We went to Jenna's 9 month check up this morning. She weighs 17 lbs. 15.5 oz and is 28 inches long. This put her in the 33% and 70% respectively. Our pediatrician informed us that he would like her to start eating "table" food to have a higher calorie intake. "You know just give her whatever you guys are having to eat.", he says oh so casually. It took me a minute to process what he was saying. I finally asked, "How do I grind up Captain Crunch? Can she eat Top Ramen?" I don't think he fully appreciates the magnitude of my non-cooking stance! He just started laughing and told me it was refreshing to get an honest response. Apparently most respond with, "I will go right home and start growing my own vegetables to prepare with care and love over a hot stove."

I did, however, go home and share my Fudgesicle! (I also made cornbread that night. I eat it in a bowl with milk and either jam or honey. As you can see she enjoyed both!)

Too cute not to share!

I drove home from San Diego with Jenna today. Once again, she did amazing! We live a pretty non-stop life style in the Madsen home and I am so grateful that Jenna is such a great traveler. It makes life a whole lot easier. When we finally pulled into the garage, I opened the back car door and received a huge grin for my efforts. I just adore her! I snagged the camera quickly and got another smile out of her...how do you not just melt when you look at her?

Divide and conquer!

Casey and I had separate events this weekend. He had a boys trip planned. Casey, along with Brad Larson, Mike Crowton, and Joe Dallimore, started their trip in Chicago where they hit an afternoon Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves game at Wrigley Field. With Brad being a Cubs fan and Casey being a Braves supported it was bound to get a little messy. The Cubs led by quite a margin for most of the game, but when the brought their closer in, he pissed it away. The ended up losing 5-3. Needless to say the Cubs crowd was none to pleased and voiced their issues quite vocally. The boys enjoyed getting an authentic Wrigley experience.

Then they drove to Milwaukee to hit a Brewers v. Padres game that night. Where the bastard Brewers ended up winning 6-5. Don't get me wrong, I've got love for Milwaukee having lived there, but not when they are playing my Pads.

After spending the night in Madison, WI, they headed to Minnesota and Target Field for a Twins v. Anaheim Angels. Minnesota won 4-0.

While Casey was enjoying his time on the road, Jenna and I hit the road and headed to San Diego for my niece, Chloe's second birthday. It was a great time. Chloe, as always, was too cute for words. She is such a talker and has a great vocabulary. My favorite though may be when she calls Jenna, "Baby Yenna". It's fantastic. Or maybe it's when I ask Chloe guess what and she replies, "I love you, Aunt Katie". Melts me! (***A special thanks to Kim Henrie for helping me make Chloe's princess dress!)

The decor turned out so fun. My Dad and Holly made a castle for the entry into the living room. The draw bridge was AWESOME!

We swagged tulle from the ceiling and the hung some cut outs every so often when princess sayings. i.e. "Once Upon A Time", "A Wish Come True", "Happily Ever After", etc. It was really cute.

The kids played "Put the Crown on Chloe"

And then the cotton ball game. Where you have to be blind folded and scoop cotton balls from on bowl to another.

And Chloe opened presents. This is from her Grandma and Grandpa Quarders. You try riding a big wheel in and flowing princess gown...she was very graceful.

The food turned out to not only be cute, but was delicious also! I'll be honest, the cupcakes Sara made looked so good that I got in a little trouble for eating one before we sang happy birthday. Oops!

It was so nice to get some time with my family. My sister, Jose, and niece Kylie.

Kylie, and my niece Shiloh.

My SIL Jen and Shiloh. (Don't you love the crowns Sara got for the little girls?)

Grandma Holly wanted to try and get a picture with all the grandchildren for Facebook...it didn't go so well...lots of crying...

Jenna did better one on one, as you can see.

Although, we did try for one shot with all the cousins. It was rough going and this is the best we got.

Chug! Chug! Chug!

How funny is Jenna? When we gave her her bottle last night she would chug the thing and then bring her head upright, take a break, and sigh. Like it was the best thing she had ever tasted. I tried to get video, but true to form the second I tried, she stopped. At least we got a picture! Case and I totally got the giggles.

Sunset

Saw this awesome sunset tonight and tried to capture it. The picture still does not do it justice, but sometimes I crawl out of my obliviousness and take notice of what is around me. It does not happen often, and so I am grateful when it does!

20 years?!

Casey and I headed to Ogden this weekend for his 20th High School Reunion. My husband, who was rather blase about the whole event, thought it was a bit strange that I was the one freaking out. I just could not believe that I was married to someone who graduated 20 years ago! It just felt like life was flying by. How unreal.

It was a good time. Mostly because we got some time with our dear friends, Joe and Wendy Dallimore and Brad and Sherene Larson. I know Casey had a good time, but I discovered that I am not nearly as good in the small talk, unknown group settings as I once was. And I also realized just how shy Casey really is. Sometimes I forget, because he so rarely ventures outside of his comfort zone. I heard several times, that Casey looks exactly the same. And he does, just a bit heavier. Such a great guy, and such great friends. I feel incredibly lucky that Casey made and kept such amazing people as friends!

Vegas baby!

Casey had an HR Conference in Las Vegas this week, so Jenna and I decided to join him for a couple days. It was a nice short get-away. It was like forced down time for me. When Jenna was having nap time, I couldn't have the TV or lights on or it would wake her up, so I napped too! It was really nice. She is such a cutie and we are having a great time with her!
This is the new face she is making ALL the time. I think it is hilarious!
