A quicky to Portland

I made a quick 2 day trip to see my dear Kimberly. It was great to get a little time with her. her moving has been so hard for me, and I miss her so much! We did a little antiquing, a little crafting, and a lot of shopping. Can't wait to get back up there...

August

Jenna is getting so big. She's started to be interested in trying to potty train. Not really seriously, but it does seem to be a fun new game. I'm really enjoying my book club. I get to socialize with an amazing group of intelligent and kind women and it's so nice to have adult conversation, even if it is only once a month. Kim came to town for like 24 hours and it was fantastic to get some time with her. Portland is so far away...sadness...glad I got a little time with her! Miss you, Kimberly!

You have how many pets?!

My dear, dear friend Kim Henrie and her family is moving to Portland, OR. It's breaking my heart! I'm not excited about this...but despite my begging, praying, pleaded, and even attempted bribing, they are moving nonetheless. When they move we are planning to move into their home and rent our house out. It will be nice to be on one level and to have a  yard. But along with renting their home, we are inheriting their dog, Molly Trigger. Once they get settled, then they will take her back. It's more of a foster care vs. adoption situation. She's a really good dog and Jenna could not be more excited.
And Trigger is so very good with Jenna. She's had lots of experience with Cutler and Kapri which makes me feel better. We really are very excited about having her, but it could be a bit crowded with two cats, Trigger, and a toddler...let the games begin!

Our girly girl

Jenna is a girly girl. Let's face it. It's an on-going battle to keep her out of my jewelry. Today we went over to Kim's to make a bunch of hair bows. Kim is moving at the end of the month {insert me sobbing here} and so we had to stock up from my crack bow provider before she leaves. Jenna kept putting bow after bow on. So Kim snapped this shot of her. Isn't she just the cutest. I said to Casey, just accept it, Jenna's is a girly girl. He said, yah, but you aren't doing anything to prevent it. It's not like you are exchanging the bracelet for a basketball or anything. Guilty as charged...

Kim, Katie, and kids day of fun!

My friend Kim Henrie and her two darling children, Cutler and Kapri joined Jenna and me for our trip to San Diego to meet Ashtyn. I thought Kim could take some newborn pictures of her. {Unfortunately, Jen's uncle passed away right after Ashtyn was born and so the pictures didn't work out.} But Kim and I got a completely exhausting fun vacation out of it. We drove down on the 15th and it took us the kids the 16th to recover. But we did the 17th up right. We started the day with a trip to Sea Port Village. We walked the pier, rode the carousel, and looked at all the shops. We went and had lunch at the only place I will eat fish, Anthony's,  and saw the Star of India.

We wanted to hit the tide  pools but low tide wasn't for a couple of hours still so we went to Old Town and walked around for a little. The church did a big ole' remodel on the Mormon Battalion. It was pretty cool, though we didn't get to stay very long as the kids were melting down. We did get to see a real blacksmith at work and some old coaches. I forget what cool stuff San Diego has. I need to get out of Sara and Chris' house more often. :)
Seriously, how cute are they?
Finally we headed to the beach. It's all Cutler wanted the whole trip. When we were headed into town, we stopped at my Dad and Holly's house for a minute. As we were exiting the freeway Cutler says, "Um, sorry guys, I can't see the beach." We were cracking up! So cute Cutler finally got to see the beach. I think he was a little scared of the crabs and sea anemones. I'll admit, sticking your finger in an anemone is a very different experience. If you don't grow up doing it, it might freak you out a bit. I had so much fun. Ocean Beach is such a nostalgic place for me. It's home. And it feels like my soul takes a breath when I am there. I'm hoping this was the first of many trips there with Jenna.
After that we headed back to Sara's. It was a jam packed day of fabulousness. The next day we headed home. Thanks again for coming, Henries!

One busy ass day...

We had a very busy day today! It started with the incomparable Kimberly Henrie taking family photos for our Christmas cards. She is absolutely amazing. Thought I would share a few...
For the record, shocking as it may be, this was not my idea. Now you know why I love him!
Then we headed out to see Santa Claus. Every year ERA Real Estate Agent, Steve Campbell dresses up like Santa and all the ERA employee's kids can come visit him. It such a great experience because there aren't very many people there and Steve remembers all the kid's names so it feels so intimate. Jenna had NO love for Santa this year. We tried and tried but she wanted nothing to do with him. So we got some of the ever classic, rite of passage photos of her screaming on Santa's lap. Enjoy...
After Santa we went and picked out a Christmas tree. Jenna was more interested in eating the pine needles than she was anything else. the trees came from Wisconsin, so Casey felt like we had come to the right place to purchase.
We've got the tree in the house. But decorating it is just going to have to wait. I'm exhausted! Nighty night.
