Remodel Day Nineteen and Twenty

One of our biggest concerns about this house was just how low the wall in the back yard is. It was crucial for both Casey and I that we made increasing the wall a priority. Budget wise, it means that others things are going to have to wait, like base and case, and flooring in the playroom. But when all was said and done, we are so glad we made the choice we did.

Remodel Day Eighteen

I started changed out all of the switches and outlets. The electrical outlets in this house were so old that when you would plug something in, it would immediately slide right back out. It was so frustrating when you were trying to use a power tool and couldn't ever get any power...

We also started changing out all of the light fixtures. A big thank you to Papa Stuart for all of your help, Mr. I Can Do Anything!

Now that we actually have flooring, We brought in some of our furnishings. It's starting to feel like a home around here...finally!

Remodel Day Sixteen and Seventeen

As of 730pm the floor is finally back in place. It took me twice as long as I thought it would but hey, at least it's finished.

Meet my nemisis! This mfing, sons a bitches, POS, hallway nearly broke me. My mind, body, and spirit is completely depleated after having to relay is 4 times before it all fit together properly with all 5 door ways. Thanks go once again to Nick Frei, who saved me more than once and helped me get it done. And a special thank you to Heather Kearl for letting me borrow her precious saw.

So....I ran out of flooring and had to steal it from Jenna's play room. (BTW, when all was said and done, we ended up with exactly one left over full piece of flooring) Now we have a blank canvas that needs flooring. So many options, so little money!

Riding The Horseys

Liisa called us this afternoon and told us that Nick was saddling up the horses for their grandkids to ride them and invited Jenna down to join them. We felt like this was an opportunity for Jenna that we just couldn't pass up. So we took a break from our working around the house and headed down the hill. Jenna is such an animal lover and she didn't seem to have any fear whatsoever. We started by just letting her stand next to another horse. She was ready to ride pretty quickly. So away we went....she had a total blast. Thanks for the memories, Papa Nick and Grandma Liisa!

Christmas Day = A Much Needed Break

We flew up and did a day trip to Draper for Christmas. I think it was really good for all of us to get out of the chaos, even if it was for just a few hours. Jenna reveled in the attention and gift unwrapping. It was also fun to get a little time with Casey's cousin, Tyree's newest addition, Cameron. He's just so cutie patootie!

Remodel Day Fourteen...oh, and it's Christmas Eve...

Casey spent the day at the other house finishing packing up all of our remaining belongings and making trips back and forth while watching Jenna. Ugh. Jordan finished glazing the kitchen and pantry while I spent another day laying the hardwood floors. They are quickly becoming hated! It's not super easy to get them laid because they have to go in a row at a time and as I get one end locked in, it pops the other end back out. So I end up walking back and forth the length of the room trying to get the whole thing to go in and stay in. My knees and the palm of my hands are killing me.

We finally stopped to celebrate Christmas Eve down with the Freis. Amazing people, fantastic friends. Poor Jenna was completely exhausted and cried the whole time she was unwrapping her presents from Papa Nick and Grandma Liisa and then fell asleep in the car before we had even pulled out of the driveway. Poor tired girl.

What Unbelievable Friends We Have!

Our dear friends, the Kearls, took Jenna for the last few days (including overnight) so I could keep working on the house while Casey was at work. What an amazing thing. They saved us a thousand times over. It was such a relief to know she was being loved and cared for while we were able to get some much done without having her under foot. When they returned her, she was all gussied up from her mani/pedi. What a happy girl with pink nails.

Remodel Day Thirteen

Jordan Frei got the dining room and half the kitchen glazed.

While he was doing that I started to re-lay the hard wood floor. We had to take it completely take it out and then put it back because it is tongue and groove, it's like a puzzle.  Taking it out turned out to be a good thing with all the texture, paint, and glaze flying around it was better to just have the concrete.

We brought the washer and dryer in. Of course the plug on the dryer is the wrong one for the outlet, and the hose on the washer is leaking. but at least they made it in the house, right?

We also started distributing boxes into their respective locations.

We brought all 3 pets home with us tonight. They are all having a bit of anxiety. Trigger hates both the hard wood and the concrete. So she just paces in the bedroom. Shadow has yet to make it out of the closet. But Chipper & Shadow ventured all the way out into the garage to take over Trigger's bed.

Remodel Day Twelve

The Freis and Berrys were back at it with us, bright and early this morning getting the master bedroom glazed before the carpet layers arrived.

The living room and hallway all got glazed today as well.

A close up of what the glaze looks like on the walls:

And as promised the carpet got laid in the craft room and master bedroom.

And to round out the day, we put up our bed. Still not sleeping here though, the fumes are way too strong.
